1 Week Grain Free- A Momma Update
So it has been one week since I found out for certain that grains, cabbage, strawberries and rooibos tea don't agree with me. It has been easier than I thought it would be to get back into the swing of cooking and eating grain free. Honestly the strawberries and rooibos tea have been the hardest things to give up- we used strawberries in all our smoothies and strawberry jam is so good on pancakes. How We've Been Doing
Today I thought I would give you an update on our family. So here is what and how we've been to the last few weeks. :) What has Ben been doing? Basketball practices started a few weeks ago, so Ben has two nights a week that he is in charge of a team of JV boys. Our local homeschool basketball team has really grown sober the last year, but Ben did lose a couple of his players last year, so this year he has to reorganize the team and get the guys into a rhythm. Make Your Own: Homemade Grain-free Baking Powder
One of the biggest things that I learned when we were doing our elimination diet with Seth earlier this year was how many places grain hides. I found it in spices, lunch meat, chips, powdered drink mixes, some body care products, and more. In the first few things on the above list the offender is corn. Corn syrup, maltodextrin and dextrose. Even xanthan gum can be derived from corn. (I did use xanthan gum during our grain-free months, but I didn't use it often.)
