Well this month did end up being busier than expected, but it was good. We went with my mom, two of my brothers and my youngest sister to Virginia for a week. We took my middle brother back to Liberty after his spring break. I didn’t get to visit much with him while he was here because he was visiting other family and friends, so it was nice on the drive down to be able to catch up a little and talk.
While in Lynchburg we visited my middle sister and brother-in-law. We invaded their house and took it over for a while. Thanks for letting us stay Rachel and Adam! We had a good visit with them and we can’t wait for them to come up here and stay with us! hint-hint. π
After spending a few days in Lynchburg we headed north towards DC and invaded my older brother and sister-in-law’s house. We had lots of fun there. We got to visit Trader Joe’s and a Whole Food’s, neither of which we have around here.
After leaving Levi and Brooke’s house we stopped at Gettysburg. It was pretty chilly so we didn’t do any walking around outside. We seen the cyclorama and movie and went through the museum. Seth’sΒ favorite part of the museum were the cases with the guns and swords. He also liked the little movie stations. Cameron ended up helping me choose books to buy as he ripped the cover half way off one, I was planning on buying it already, he just made the decision final. π
We stopped in Pittsburgh for the night and were planning on going to the Ikea there, however it didn’t open until ten the next morning, so we decided to hit the road after breakfast and then we stopped in Detroit. I had never been to Ikea before and was very impressed. I found lots of things that I wanted, but I was able to contain myself and only bought three small things that were actually needed. π I will definitely be going back.
That week of vacation, while needed, made the month of March go very quickly. Here is an overview of this month’s goals and how we did. I’ll have new goals up by the end of this week. π
Blogging:
*post at least ten times, twelve is preferred but Iβll be happy with ten ~ π This will be my eighth post this month, I did work on my welcome page as well. If you click here you can go check it out and learn more about our family. I need help with a title though… or should I just leave it?
*interact with more bloggers and learn more about social media ~ working on it, I have found some great blogs to follow and if you want a list of some I like you can go here.
Finances:
*save $200 a week ~ Once again this didn’t happen.
We did get our taxes done and got a great return, so we will be able to once again be debt free except for our mortgage. We still need to work on saving money though so we can get the siding on our house and in the fall a new car is needed.
Health and Fitness:
*run two times a week ~ Guys, I just don’t have any motivation with all the snow.Β Same goal. Now that it is getting warmer (by that I mean 40’s)I need to force myself to get out there!! I ran once a week.
*HIIT two times a week ~ Same goal. I did this once a week as well.
*practice yoga two times a week ~ Same goal.
*read two books on any subject related to health and fitness~ Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering is done. I had a hard time reading it. It is a great book, but is written by a doctor and a little overwhelming with all the information the author includes. I am also reading, it’s almost done, Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby and Child Care. I love the nutritional portions of this book, but the other parenting chapters I don’t agree with.
Home and Hospitality:
*dishes washed by 8:30am ~ they were usually started by 8:30, new goal is washed by 8:45am
*bathroom cleaned once a week ~ π
*vacuum two times a week ~ π
*have someone over for dinner or coffee once ~ π
*make bed every morning ~ nope, but it is made more often than not.
*couch laundry free at night ~ work in progress.
*find a chore system for Seth ~ I havenβt found one yet but Set is setting the table more often and is learning how to make his bed and clean things up without momma’s help.
These Home and Hospitality goals look pretty much the same as last month. I am working on getting everything into routine, so you guys don’t have to read these goals every month and so I can replace them with better stuff. π
Marriage:
* a fun date that isn’t dinner and a movie ~ Ben and I ended up going to a concert. It was with a group, but it was fun and something we hadn’t done in a while.
Mothering:
*one on one date with Seth ~ π this didn’t happen this month, now that the snow is going away, I’m hoping to get to the park with him this month, or go to the library. He asks to do both of these regularly but it has been to cold for the park and we always take Cameron to the library with us.
*write once in each boys journal ~ π
*read one book related to mothering or child developement ~ I read The Spiritual Power of a Mother by Michael Farris. I’ll be sharing a little more about that soon.
Did you check out the welcome page? Should I change the name? Do you have any suggestions?Β
How was your month? Did it go fast or slow? Did you have spring break already?
Christina says
I don’t think the title needs to be changed. But I tend to like simple titles that get to the point, lol.
So when did you find to sleep with all the traveling you did?
I love this post, this is a great idea. I might be implementing it into my blog…
Rebekah says
I couldn’t think of a different name either, so I’ll probably just leave it. π
There wasn’t much sleeping going on, but that’s what happens when family gets together. π

I think you got a TON of stuff done!!! More smiley faces!!! You’ll get there, no worries!
Rebekah says
It is a work in progress! I do like that there are more smiley faces as well! π

Wow! You have lofty goals for such a busy life! You’ve inspired me to get serious about listing out my goals. It always helps to look back and see what I’ve gotten accomplished and to stay on track. Well done!
Rebekah says
Thanks Samantha! I really find it encouraging to see what actually gets done as well, it is one of the biggest reasons I right my goals down. And the fact that if I tell everyone I have a bigger incentive to do them. π

Phew.. I was rooting for you with the list, but seriously.. if you got it all done I was going to start wondering if you were cloned in an anonymous post! I have a laundry tip.. it’s something I do to force myself to get laundry folded and put away. I dump the clean laundry on my BED! Yup.. no going to bed for me until it’s folded and put away! I got way better at the kitchen sink.. then dropped off.. guess I was too busy folding laundry so I could go to bed.. haha.. Be proud and feel accomplished for the things you did get done, pretty great that you did get so much done with kids and traveling. π
Rebekah says
Haha!! I love your comments Kim!
I really like that tip! It would definitely make me get the laundry folded and put away. It wouldn’t be hard to implement either as we keep the boys clothes separate from the adult clothes so I could just take them right from the dryer to the room..I have got to try this!

Holy cow! You have a ton of goals! Don’t overwhelm yourself!!! You’ve gotten a lot done and are on your way. If you don’t like to run in the snow (who does?) is there something else you can do that you’d be more likely to do until the snow melts? Just a thought.
I think leaving your welcome page titled Welcome is good. It’s best to be clear. You could title it Welcome, About Me/Us, or Start Here. Those are the ones I’ve seen the most.
