The past few months have brought many changes. Andrew is rolling, Cameron is talking more than ever, and Seth is getting back into a school routine. Ben is finishing up another season of basketball coaching; though our family enjoys the season of games we are always glad to see it end and for life to return to a slower pace. I have started teaching piano lessons again, and had my first oppurtunity to support a momma in labor and birth since taking off last August; with both it has been so exciting to get back to doing them but it has been difficult to leave my baby. I’m so thankful for family and the mother’s helpers that I have to watch the boys while I am teaching or at a birth.
Andrew is 4 1/2 Months
Four-and-a-half-months {five months next week, but I like how four-and-a-half sounds ;)} and growing like a little weed! At his 4 month checkup, a week-and-a-half after his month-day, he weighed 14lbs and 8oz and was 24 inches long. His weight is still more than Cameron’s and his length, at least for this checkup, is shorter than Seth by 1/2 inch. I’m really hoping that taking Andrew’s growth chart to the Pediatric Endocrinologist that Seth sees will help the Doc to decide that Seth doesn’t need to come there anymore.
Andrew is still nursing on demand and his schedule is about the same as it was at two months. He nurses 3-4 times at night, but will sometimes surprise me and go 5-6 hours. We have started sleep training the past couple of weeks. It goes well on some days and not so well on others.
Rolling from belly to back happens when he wants it to, but so far he likes to work on scooting a little more. He can spin in a circle to keep an eye on the boys as long as they aren’t moving too fast. Andrew can get to his side from his back, but I think that his cloth diapers prohibit a complete roll. I’m not going to complain or worry about it though because right now I can put him down and expect him to be in the same area when I return. [Hey! If you want more information about cloth diapering, here is a post you might like.
Andrew’s personality is starting to emerge with outbursts of anger when his brothers are bugging him, and sadness or fear when the situation calls for it. He hasn’t laughed or giggled yet but he is soooo close!
Momma at almost five months postpartum
I had my thyroid labs tested recently and while all my “normal” tests have come back in the normal range my antibody levels are elevated. Higher than they have been in the recent past. I’m also having weird spots of eczema show up and reacting to different foods than normal. I am scheduling an appointment for Bio-Meridian testing in early March and hoping that it will explain a lot of things.
I recently participated in a two week “no cheat” challenge with the Trim Healthy Momma Pregnant and Nursing Group on Facebook. I lost two pounds over those two weeks! 🙂
I now have 16lbs to lose before I get to my goal weight, but as I shared the other day, I want to be in the best shape I can no matter what my weight is. I’ve been using Sara Haley’s Expecting More: The Fourth Trimester Workout DVD and I have loved the results! {You can read my review of the workout dvd set and get a coupon code for 30% off your order by clicking here!}</em>
I feel like things are starting to get back into a routine. We have two or three really good days in a row and then things seem to fall apart for a couple. When that happens I try to regroup as best possible, but we also spend most of the day in our jammies just taking care of things around the house. With I the other boys I consistently felt like I had things under control between nine and ten months.
