In the end of October I was challenged to start having a better attitude.
I decided that I was going to try to find one thing every day in November to be thankful for. To keep me on track and to share what I was learning I decide to make a challenge for anyone who wanted to join and #onemonthofthankfulness was born. I like to share pictures on Instagram so I thought that would be the perfect place to record what I was grateful for.
At first I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it, how was I ever going to find one thing to take a picture of and be grateful for for a whole month? Yes, my attitude was, and sometimes still is, that bad.
After the first week I was pretty proud of myself. I gave thanks for coffee, my bed, a clean floor at the end of the day and my brother. It was after that first week and working through different Psalms that I started realizing how many blessings I do have.
I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD
FOREVER;
with my mouth will I make known Your
Faithfulness to all generations.
I want my sons to know how much we are blessed and so we started having “Thank You Only” prayers. Usually these prayers were at lunch time. We thanked our Heavenly Father for our food, the weather no matter what it was like, a good nights rest, the people we were able to interact with that day, etc. As much as we could think of we were grateful for.
I started to say thank you to my sons more often. For doing what I asked, for being nice to the other, for going out of their way to do something.
I want my sons to see a momma who is thankful for every breath, who lives life to the fullest and who loves Jesus with all her heart. #onemonthofthankfulness has helped me to get on track with that goal.
