The past few weeks haven’t been any busier than others, I have just been enjoying a break from blogging. We’ll call it my blogging spring break. ๐ It had been nice to not worry about getting a post up or wondering what I should write about because, although I have lots of ideas written down, I sometimes get writers block when I actually sit in front of a screen.
Last weekend we went down to OH for a cousin’s birthday. We had fun with family and got some “vacation” in. I โก roadtrips and we used this shorter one as a practice run for our trip in a couple months to SC/GA to visit my sister and brother-in-law and brother and sister-in-law and the most adorable nephew ever. ๐
I enjoyed my week and a half “away” but am ready to get back into things. So here is a recap of last months goals and what we really did and didn’t do.
Blog:
*eight posts Yep. I actually had nine and had the most page views and visitors ever.
Here are last months top three posts:
1. Cocoa Nuts– a grain free, dairy free version of my favorite childhood breakfast: Cocoa Wheats. It is Paleo, GAPS legal and a Trim Healthy Mama S meal.
2. Soft Coconut Flour Waffles This waffle recipe makes soft, filling waffles. If you want them to be a little crispier pop them in the toaster for a minute. This recipe is also Paleo, GAPS legal and a Trim Healthy Mama S.
3. Telling the Boys About Baby #3 I video taped the boys’ reaction as they learned about their new sibling. It was’t as dramatic as I thought it would be, but still cute. ๐
Doula Business:
*attend childbirth education class to promote services and generate local awareness of the services a doula offers ~ I didn’t do this last month because it was kinda crazy, but I will attend two classes in a couple of weeks.
*attend breastfeeding class to complete hours needed for DONA certification ~ Again no, hopefully sometime in the next few weeks
*have a booth at a local family services expo Yes! It was a lot of fun, I had a ball toss for the littles and was able to talk to a few women who were interested, mostly though I talked with Grandmas who wanted to talk about their grandbabies. ๐ It was good PR though.
Health and Fitness:
*weight training Very little, but I did do some work with a kettlebell. ๐
*I’m hoping to get the okay to start running again in a couple weeks if not I need to start walking and stretching Wahoo!!! I got cleared! I’ve only run twice since then, but would like to do more in April.
Home and Hospitality:
*curtains and pillows ~ No. again, sadly I did spend half an hour trying to thread my mom’s serger but that is as far as I got.
* have people over we haven’t before ~ No.
*spring clean boys’ room Yep. Found a couple of bags of stuff to get rid of.
*get out spring/summer clothes for boys Am I tha only one who loves getting out the new seasons clothes? It is like getting a brand new wardrobe for free! I also got my maternity clothes out to get washed and take stock of what I have….I get to go shopping soon. ๐
Mothering:
*make money earning chore cards for Seth ~ This is half way done so half way crossed out. :p Here are the jobs Seth will be paid for ($0.05- $0.10 per job)
-emptying chicken buckets (Grandma’s chickens, our scraps)
– washing silverware and plastic dishes
-drying dishes
and
-scrubbing the tub
Now obviously as he gets older these chores will be expected not paid for but I’m choosing to pay him for these now since they are slightly above his abilities and something he will have to work at to finish correctly. These paying cards will be optional for him to do, unless he tells me he is bored to many times ๐
*finish Treasure Island with the boys and hopefully start another chapter book We finished Treasure Island and are now reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader from The Chronicles of Narnia
Personal:
*memorize 1 Peter 1-2 It’s coming, it isn’t perfect but I still try to go over the chapters once a day.
*read Romans-1 Corinthians On to the next few books. ๐
How did you do on last months goals? I wanted to get more done, but I’m very happy with what did get done. I didn’t have too much morning sickness this time around, but the days I didn’t feel good it was an all day affair so I sat on my bottom and watched Grey’s Anatomy or read. I actually read some fun books last month, definitely need to start doing that more. ๐
Do any Spring Cleaning? I want to get most of the rest of the house done this month which shouldn’t be to hard because I’ll be a fishing widow most weekends thanks to the Walleye running the Detroit River. Ben and his brothers and Dad will be down there most weekends.
Oohhh, I have a super big project to tell you about next time. ๐

Congratulations! You are so organized. I need to try all your recipes!
Rebekah says
Goals are one of the only areas I am organized in…. you should see my cupboards and closets…. I’m working on that though. ๐
If you try the recipes, I would love to know how you like them!!
ChristianGal (@RealCouponDiva) says
sounds to me like you did a LOT ๐
Rebekah says
Aww, thanks!

I think the fact that you wrote down your goals brought you closer to them. I don’t remem if I set any goals in March, let alone if I accomplished them.
Rebekah says
Well, I know you have been doing a lot with Zumba and running, so I would say you got a lot done Maria!
Confessions1rst says
Thanks! I feel unproductive most of
time.

Good job!! Look at all of things you accomplished! I’m trying to take a break from goals for a bit, but feeling a bit disoriented!
Rebekah says
May I ask why you are taking a break? Was it making you to goal oriented? Was it hard to spend time with your family when you were thinking about your to-do list?
Christine says
I think it is awesome that you are writing out your goals and crossing them off here. Keep going!!
Brandi @ penguinsinpink.com says
Yay! Look at all you did. I actually took your advice and blogged about my goals for the month… hopefully it will help more. I think it’s so awesome your a doula by the way. ๐
Rebekah says
Aww, I feel so special. I need to get back over to your site and check out what you have been doing. I find blogging so much easier in the winter when the weather is yucky. ๐
I love support families through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. I have super supportive family and I want to be able to bless others who don’t.
WearingL says
Well done! It’s always nice to tick of goals to make you feel better about them ๐
Yay for being (becoming?) a doula! Love it!
Rebekah says
Yep, I’m a doula! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I’m on call right now and every time the phone rings I get an adrenaline rush. ๐ Did you have a doula at your birth(s)?
marlayoung says
Nice job! I am working on my Spring cleaning list.
Rebekah says
I hope you can get your list done and get out and enjoy the lovely Spring weather! WE have been having summer like days here lately and it has been hard to do much inside when we can be outside. ๐
ashleylecompte says
I love the idea of a monthly to-do list. Not quite as overwhelming as a daily to-do list.
Happy for you that you can start running again!! Hope you are feeling great and that your children are super excited for your new little one. We just welcomed number three in the fall and it was mostly pretty smooth. Hoping the same will be true for you, too!
Rebekah says
Thanks Ashley!! I’m so excited to hit the road again. It gives me “me time.” I usually come up with great post ideas on my runs and then completely forget them when I return, or I use that time to pray or do an attitude adjustment.
I’m glad to hear the transition went smoothly for you. I’m interested to see how it goes, some of my friends have told me one to two was harder than two to three and then others tell me the exact opposite. ๐
