Great is Thy Faithfulness is one of my favorite hymns. The thought that no matter how many mistakes I make, what I do, or fail to do, God will always see me with white robes and clothes of righteousness, is overwhelming. I am sitting here trying to think of words to describe it and I can’t. Except to say I am in awe of my God, his faithfulness, mercy and grace. I need it every minute.
I was just looking at my goals for February, sadly many of them were not completed. But that is okay. It is fine to fail, if we look at the failure to see what we can learn from it, dust ourselves off and start again. We are given a new slate every morning. I need to look at my goals, make changes if needed and, sooner or later, I will be able to say that I have accomplished them.
The madness and busy-ness of February is over and now it is time for a clean slate and a new month for goals. Actually I don’t think we are extremely busy this month, but that could always change at any time.
I am going to list my goals for each category, give a brief update and then explain what I may, or may not, be changing. These are listed in alphabetical order, not in order of importance. π
Blogging:
*Create and share Facebook page.Get fifty likes.~ π This is one the actually got accomplished. Thanks for your support! If you haven’t liked Surviving Toddlerhood on Facebook yet you can click here to go do it. π
*post at least ten times, twelve is preferred but I’ll be happy with ten ~ this didn’t get done, I did post nine times, I’ll keep the same goal for March.
*interact with more bloggers and learn more about social media ~ this is a work in progress.
Finances:
*save $200 a week ~ this didn’t happen, but it gave us something to aim for, this will be the same goal for this month.
Health and Fitness:
*run two times a week ~ nope. I don’t mind the snow, but I really, really dislike the cold. Please Spring, come soon!! Same goal.
*HIIT two times a week ~ Same goal.
*practice yoga two times a week ~ Same goal.
*read two books on any subject related to health and fitness ~ I did read Spiritual Midwifery so half of my goal was accomplished.
Home and Hospitality:
*dishes washed by 8:30am ~ they were usually started by 8:30, new goal is washed by 8:45am
*bathroom cleaned once a week ~ π
*vacuum two times a week ~ π
*have someone over for dinner or coffee once ~ π
*make bed every morning ~ nope, but it is made more often then not.
*couch laundry free at night ~ work in progress
*find a chore system for Seth ~ I haven’t found one yet but Set is setting the table more often and is learning how to make his bed
Marriage:
*attend The Art of Marriage conference ~ π it was great!!
*new goal: a fun date night that isn’t dinner and a movie
Mothering:
*one on one date with Seth ~ π We stayed home and played games that Seth wanted to play. It was honestly a little frustrating at times for me, but we both had fun.
*write once a week in each boys’ journal ~ nope. New goal is once a month.
*read one book related to mothering or child development ~ nope. I do have the book in my house, I just haven’t read it yet.
Whew! Goal recap is over! How did you do with your goals? Do you have a busy week planned? Do you pay attention to March Madness?

That’s one of my favorite hymns also! I don’t know what it is about the hymns, but so many of them just truly resonate with my soul! Great reminder that God is faithful, even when we aren’t so much!

I like lots of the praise and worship songs of today, but many times when my soul needs music I crave the old hymns. Songs that aren’t sung very much today. I totally agree with you!

Wow! You make me tired just reading this. I say cut yourself some slack, but we are a very artsy family who mostly goes with the flow. The boys are young make sure you enjoy them! Congrats on what you got done! Here’s to March!!
Rebekah says
I try to make sure that if the boys need me, we spend time, but I also want to teach them that there needs to be order in life. That work and chores are fun and if we get them done correctly and quickly there will be time to play. π

Hey Rebekah, I woke thinking I should reread what I wrote because I didn’t want that to come across wrong….hope it didn’t! I had a very organized mother growing up and it wasn’t pleasant for any of us. So I wanted to raise my girls differently and I did. But they are both very successful young adults…so far. I also married a very successful business man who hates lists and clocks! LOL. I am a total time keeper. His attitude is just get the job done if it takes a long time then it takes a long time! Anyways, this just reminds me that God made us all different and that’s what makes this world wonderful. Have a successful March!

π Thanks! I really appreciate the point you were making in your first comment, because I do need to be reminded of that at times to. My boys are only little for a few short moments and I need to cherish every moment I have with them. I will miss their littleness one day.
We are all unique individuals, created to bring honor and glory to the One who made us.

Fantastic update! I think you’ve done really well! And I LOVE “Great is Thy Faithfulness”! One of my faves π The big things I’ve accomplished: taxes are done, and one set of wedding photos has been edited. I have two more weddings and a big insurance class to get through in Marchβ¦so there you go!
Rebekah says
You have taxes done? That is awesome! I have been telling myself that I need to start getting things around since the beginning of February, it hasn’t happened yet. I do need to get on it though because our appointment is next week.
Have fun with the weddings! I’m not sure if the insurance class will be fun, but good luck with that as well! π

You got a lot done even if you didn’t get some of your goals accomplished. =) Hopefully March will be a bit slower of a month for you and maybe you’ll be able to get more of your goals crossed off. But even if not, you are raising two adorable boys and being a great wife and mom and that’s what matters most!!!!!
Rebekah says
Thanks Amber! I try to make sure that I remember that my job as wife and momma is what matters more than my goals and to give myself grace when things don’t get done. I know my boys are only little for a while and I don’t want to put a clean house and my to-do list ahead of them.

WOW! You had quite an aggressive list.. I’d wonder if you ever slept if you accomplished it all! My favorite is your one on one with Seth, I’m sure more of those dates will be in your future π I struggle with the laundry/dishes, but with the exception of one week I managed to have my sink clean every day since January 1st, dirty dishes out and sink rinsed or washed w/in an hour of mealtime. This was huge.. I hate a dirty sink but am so tired after working all day that the last thing I want to do it cook, let alone clean up after myself! My biggest goal was a fun goal.. learn to crochet… I’ve done it!! well, a bit mess, child like creations but I’m there and am excited to build on my new skill!
Rebekah says
Yay! I’m not the only one who has a “hard” time keeping on top of the dishes and laundry. π Good job on keeping them done!
What have you crocheted? I used to crochet but I have put that away for now, along with other hobbies like sewing and knitting. Maybe one day I’ll get back to them. ;

Nice work checking off several of your goals! It takes time I think to do an “overhaul” on our daily/weekly/monthly activity. I’m sure each month will bring you closer to achieving all your goals!

Reading your goals is a great refresher for all of us! I don’t do nearly as much as you have set out to accomplish, but reading about the exercising is a great reminder… I shoot for three posts a week, but when you host blog hops/linkies and/or giveaways, I think they should also count. I feel like if you have about 12 different “things” going on with your blog over the month, that’s pretty good.
Rebekah says
I don’t know if I’ll end up with my post goal or not, a unexpected vacation got planned last week, but that will be okay. I want to work on adding some pages to my blog and a better welcome page, so I’ll be counting that towards my post count.
