I was meaning to type this up yesterday but I never got around to it. So yes,we are having a family update on Saturday. ๐
As you know, the first full week of this month we started a grain free diet with the hopes of reducing Seth-boy’s inflammation. There was a learning curve and we have had a few slips, but other than a couple of chips at a party and a pickle while out for lunch Seth has been grain free for three full weeks this coming Monday.
The first week he lost some weight, which I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting him to lose a whole pound! I contacted our doctor who gave us instructions to add more avacado, coconut oil and other healthy fats. He also suggested adding eggs back in, so I have been using egg yolks in some baking and everyone seems to be doing okay with those. (Cameron had shown a reaction to eggs, through breastmilk not the egg itself, as a newborn, so we hadn’t really been using eggs since last June.)
We have found some good recipes and tried some that we won’t be making again. A couple of weeks ago I made out a meal plan and it worked well, I should probably sit down and make another.
A recipe that I really want to “fix” for us is this Chocolate Crazy Cake. The original recipe is dairy, egg and milk free, I just need to find a good combination of grain free flours for it.
I tried the recipe a couple of nights ago and it was good, it just had a taste of baking soda, so I might cut that down as well. It was very moist though and super easy to mix up. You can find the recipe on my Pinterest board Food to Fix.
Cameron thought the cake was pretty yummy. ๐
Side note: I made the cake for a Premier Jewelry Party that was at my house, I also made a berry dessert. It looked great. But it tasted like peas. That was a little embarrassing. I guess my bag of strawberries had been next to a bag of peas in the freezer somehow the pea flavor transferred to the strawberries. ๐ My poor friends who ate it before I found this out. I’m so sorry ladies! Everyone had a good laugh.
Back to Cameron.
He is ten months old and a coffee drinker already. ๐ He says momma occasionally, bye-bye and bite. The last two both sound like “ba” it just depends on the situation. He can sign “more” and we are working on please. He is getting into everything, walks holding on to things and makes messes with brother. He sleeps all night sometimes, it is getting more and more often but he still nurses once in the night for the most part. He is eating more foods and really likes sweet potatoes.
The home and hospitality and mothering goals that I posted about here have been getting accomplished. The home and hospitality ones more than the mothering. I have written twice in each of the boys’ journals but Seth and I have not gone out on our date yet. I’ll have to schedule that for next week. As for the housekeeping goals those have been accomplished. The dishes have been done by nine or right around there every morning except on the weekends. For February I would like to add a few more housekeeping goals. I’ll talk about those next week.
I fo have a few more goals that I would like to share with you.
Physical Fitness
Specifically for February:
*run two times a week
*do a HIIT workout once a week
*yoga once a week
For the year:
*complete a one day ride across our state
*DALMAC
*complete a marathon in October finishing in 5:15
Finances:
*Ben and I were just talking last night and decided for the next six weeks we will try to save $200 a week. Trying to pay off some bills. All the fun money brings.
Do you have any new goals for this month? Are you accomplishing your goals?

I’m going to post my goals post on Friday. It will have a linky. If you want to be in our goals group, we post on the last Friday of every month. I know I’ve done well with some goals, and terrible on others. I’ll keep trying! I hope Seth outgrows some of these allergies or that you’ll be able to narrow down the allergies more.

I would love the accountability of your goal group Tammy!
Our hope is that we will be able to heal Seth’s digestive system and slowly be able to reintroduce many of these foods that we are having issues with right now. Thank you for thinking and praying for us!

I am so glad that you are finding what works for your sweet boy. It’s hard to plan around meals and recipes when there are things you are trying to eliminate. I love your goals as well. We are trying our best to be debt free and we have to be more discipline when it comes to certain things. 2014 will be a great year for everyone!

Thanks Alicia! We are hoping for healing and knowledge of what foods he can and cannot eat.
I’m excited about some of our goals for the year, but a little nervous as well.
