{Disclosure: I received an Expecting More: The Fourth Trimester Workout DVD in exchange for this review. All thoughts expressed are my own.}
We’re going on 4 1/2 months since Andrew’s birth and I’m not going to lie, I’m ready to get back into shape. While I have learned in previous postpartum times that my journey back to prepregnancy weight is controlled by my hormones, I still want to be in the best shape that I can be at whatever weight I’m at.
I am slowly working back into running with the goal of completing the 5/3 25k and the Grand Rapids Marathon this year, but I need something to do on the days I can’t run. Enter Sara Haley’s Postpartum Workout program.
I was so excited when this workout dvd arrived at my door. Sara’s pregnancy workout dvd set was one of my favorites with all three of my pregnancies, so I knew this one would be good too. And as a busy momma in the midst of the postpartum period I need workouts that I can do at home, that will fit into a naptime or a time short enough that Andrew will play happily by himself. This DVD meets those requirements.
There are two dvds included in this postpartum workout program; the first has three different core workouts and a stretching routine while the second has four 20-30 minute cardio workouts.
I love the fact that these workouts, whichever you choose, was made specifically for postpartum mommas in any stage. The are options for everyone here, those just cleared to workout, those who are working on healing a diastasis recti, and those who are further along in their recovery.
Sara has included a twelve week workout program with the dvds, great for those who are looking for a little direction in their workout routine. While I haven’t followed the calendar I do love the fact that it is there.
I’ve been doing the core routines a couple of times a week and while I know I would get better results if I was consistent, I am very happy with the results I have seen. My core is tighter and I have noticed myself using my TVA (transverse abdominals) more throughout my daily activities. In fact last weekend I went for my longest run yet, since Andrew’s birth, and I could feel my core engaging and helping me along. Yay!!! ๐
I absolutely love the Cardio Drills and Cardio Sculpt workouts. They are fun, upbeat, and they stretch my endurance.
Also included on this dvd are Sara’s Secrets. These short segments highlight things you need to know before starting this series like how to test for a diastasis, how to brace your core and tighten your TVA in the workouts, workout equipment you might like, and workout fashion for postpartum mommas.
All in all I absolutely love this postpartum workout dvd and would reccomend it to everyone.
