It has been a while since I’ve shared an update on Andrew and how life is going this first year postpartum after baby number three. We’ve been busy since then, even though we always say that life is going to be slow each summer, we are always proved wrong.
We’ve gone on a couple of camping trips, to our favorite beach a few times, out-of-state, to the park, library visits, and more. Ben has gone on several fishing trips and has been getting us lots of walleye and steelhead; sadly we just lost some of the fish he caught in Canada after one of the boys turned down the temp on the chest freezer. Seth is continuing school work through the summer and is working hard to earn money for a Lego set that he wants. {He picked the $250 set, but I think that I talked him into a smaller set…} Cameron has been playing outside a lot. He also really likes these fun learning activities and he doesn’t even realize that he is learning while he is doing them.
We had so much fun while camping this summer and we have a couple of other trips planned as well. We got this tent this year as our old one badly needed to be replaced. It had been used many, many times in its lifetime with our family, 6 years, and we were outgrowing it anyways. The new tent has so much room and the boys love it because they get their own “room”. Here are a few pictures from our camping adventures:
Andrew- Ten Months
At ten months Andrew is pulling himself up on everything. He stands without assistance and every once in a while he will try to take a step. Thankfully he hasn’t made it past two steps yet.
My estimation of Andrew’s weight last time was off by a pound when he actually went to his checkup. So I’m lowering my estimation this time and saying he is right around 18 pounds. No clue on his length, but he hasn’t changed clothing sizes too much, he went from 6-9 months to just 9 months, so I don’t think he has grown a ton that way.
We’re doing baby led weaning with Andrew. I’ll nurse him before meals, or before I get a chance to feed him and then let him have what he wants food wise. He likes peas, eggs, sweet potato, squash, meats, fish, freeze-dried peaches, bananas, applesauce, beans, and more. BLW is so much easier for us than trying to feed a baby who isn’t ready for food. Andrew really didn’t show any interest in food until nine months, but once he started eating he really loved it!
Andrew still wakes two to three times per night. He has been in his own room for a couple of months and that makes sleeping better for all of us. He still occasionally comes into our bed in the middle of the night or early morning especially when his teeth are bothering him.
Momma– Ten Months Postpartum
My anxiety seems to be lessening, which is great. For a couple of months I was worried about everything. After cutting out some extra activities and making some schedule changes I feel like I’m back to my normal momma anxiety, not extra craziness.
I’m finally feeling like we are getting back into a consistent routine. It usually takes me between 9 months to a year after each baby is born to be able to consistently feel like things are getting done around the house, and that we are having a smooth daily flow. I’m also hoping that I’ll be able to share more here, since we seem to have the house and schooling back under control.
I did run the Fifth Third Riverbank Run 25k and I made it just under my goal time. I was hoping for under three hours and I made it in 2:59:?? Now I’m shooting for the Grand Rapids Marathon. We’ve been cycling a little this summer, not nearly what we should be for the DALMAC coming up though. But with the cycling I haven’t been running like I should be, so I need to get myself a running schedule again.
I’ll be doing a Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Cycle with my friend Hannah from Through the Lens next week, I’ll be interested to see how that goes. Basically the idea behind it is a fat/fast/carb cycle with the intention of boosting and resetting your metabolism.
I hope that you all have been having a lovely summer!!
