Spring is finally here to stay in West Michigan. It’s been a weird transition from Winter to Spring; days where the temperature goes almost all the way to 80 followed by days of low 40’s. One weekend we are freezing under blankets watching snow and sleet, the next we’re wearing sleeveless shirts and flip flops.
We’ve all been looking forward to warmer weather here. To get outside and play, run and bike. Since we had so much fun last fall with our Fall Scavenger Hunt {also a free printable} I thought we would make another this spring. I tried to include items that you would be able to find anywhere in the United States, but obviously some of you won’t be able to find everything on this list.
One of my favorite things about these activities is that I can tailor them to each boy and make the fun into a learning experience. I’m planning on helping Seth to create a nature journal so that we can record when and where he finds each item. We’ll probably also look for books at the library to see what other information we can find.
With Cameron we will talk about the names of the items and the colors.
You could use the scavenger hunt as a science unit study for your kindergarteners and first graders. Talk about the life cycle of the plants, learn about the edible parts of the plants, discover how the animals survive the cold Michigan winters, etc.
Pinterest has a bazillion different activities that you could use for further learning and fine motor skills fun.
But before you can do any of that you need to print your scavenger hunt so that you and your little one can get started on the fun!
