Looking back over the past year I thought it would be fun to share the top ten posts of 2014 here at Surviving Toddlerhood. They cover a range of topics which I thought was rather interesting. 🙂 You can click on the picture to go to each post.
1. Dear Momma, Let Them Love You
This post recieved the most views and set a new “record”, for my blog anyways, of visitors and page views. I love writing these letters to myself, because when I write things down I tend to remember them better. Maybe that is why I have such a love for lists, goals and checking things off.
I thought about how I would look in that situation. With a little boy who couldn’t sit still, in a place where most would say stillness and quietness equal respect and honor, how would I respond?
Would I be like that momma, smiling and returning her son’s love, or would I turn into one of those “grumpy Christians”? One who lacked all joy and patience because my son was not sitting how I thought he should. One whose worry that my son would distract others, distracted myself from worship and praise. Or one who secretly wondered if those I shared the row with would think I was a bad parent for not controlling my son.
2. Grain Free Flour Options
The title kinda explains it all. 🙂 If you are interested in going grain free this post gives you different options for flours that you can use. These options are not all Paleo approved but they are all grain free.
3. Breastfeeding: Is it For Me- Part Two
This is a post that where my friends Amber talks about inducing lactation and breastfeeding adopted babies.
4. The Perfect Gluten-free, Dairy-free Chocolate Chip Cookie
This recipe is great for those who are allergic/sensitive to “everything”. Besides being gluten and dairy free it is also nut free and egg free. I need to figure out how to make this recipe into a grain free one…maybe sometime in the next couple of months.
5. Living in the Season of Littles
Then comes a day where I realize I don’t. And it seems like when it rains it pours. Today was a good day, and the hard days of the past week have faded. Which is good, because if they hadn’t I would be dreading every day that is coming up. A little like labor. I was talking with a friend this past week about labor pain and how it has faded. If you think back to labor with your little’s what do you remember most? The pain of the contractions? Or the overwhelming sense of accomplishment. The love and joy you felt holding your baby. Thoughts of the miracle of life and how perfectly God knit this one together inside you.
6. Grain-Free No Bake Cookies
You guys. These are chocolatey and fudgey. They mix together quickly and they don’t have any baking time. They are grain free and the perfect indulgent snack when you are craving something you shouldn’t be having…. I know from experience.
7. What Seth is Teaching Me
I didnt’ know how much I would learn as a mother. From my children, the ones I am trying to teach and train. Thank goodness for mercy and grace!
8. Ten Tips: Drying Clothes on the Clothesline
9. Make Your Own: Homemade Baking Powder
10. Remember How Great He Is
Another storm rolled in. As I was standing at the sink cleaning strawberries I heard the thunder.
The rolling thunder. It sounded a lot like my yelling this morning, although it was slightly deeper in tone.
It brought to mind one of my favorite hymns. How Great Thou Art
