So it has been one week since I found out for certain that grains, cabbage, strawberries and rooibos tea don’t agree with me.
It has been easier than I thought it would be to get back into the swing of cooking and eating grain free. Honestly the strawberries and rooibos tea have been the hardest things to give up- we used strawberries in all our smoothies and strawberry jam is so good on pancakes.
I’m trying to clean the kitchen out again of all our gluten free grains. I’ll still keep rice, oats and rice noodles for the boys, but all the flours need to go.
Here are areas I’m hoping to see improvement in and what I’ve seen in the last week.
Energy:
I had a couple of days with high energy, the others less so. Those who have hypothyroid have lower energy and need more sleep, I’m hoping that by healing my gut and improving my immune system I’ll be able to last through the day without a need for a nap. Hopefully, eventually….
Weight:
The day before I went in for the BioMeridian testing I weighed 125, which for me is high. It is also 10 pounds over what I was at the end of our last grain free stint. I know I gained muscle over the summer and fall, but I would be really happy to stay between 118-120.
Five days after I eliminated the items we found I reacted to I weighed 121. o_O That is a lot of inflammation!
My belly is less bloated and I’m not so constipated.
Mood:
Well, it honestly hasn’t been the greatest, I have had some really bad days. Normally I’m pretty even keeled, so I’m hoping that I can just blame it on my body detoxing and I’ll be back to normal next week.
What I’m Taking:
*A Probotic
*Green Pastures Cod Liver Oil/Butter Oil blend
*Thyrosol-homeopathic thyroid support supplement
*Green Light- a homeopathic greensley supplement
* Thyro-Code- homeopathic thyroid support supplement
*Vitamin C
*digestive enzymes
*Laminaria- it is an algae capsule, again for thyroid support.
Have you ever done a detox? Was moodiness a symptom of that for you?
How about those of you with hypothyroidism, have you been able to heal your immune system using foods and natural remedies?

What a great week. I too have found ditching grain a vital part of my healing process.

We started banting (paleo) about a month ago – so all our main meals are low carb now. This works very well for my diabetic husband. His sugar levels have stabilised. BUT it is not really working for me. I need my carbs. So I have to figure out how to include them without a huge mission to cook two meals. So far I have been adding potatoes to the stew and eating oats and bread still during the day. I think you have to find what works for you.
