One of our newest additions to our daily schedule- we’re really still working on getting our days to flow a little more, it has been getting easier since the school year started- has quickly become the favorite part of everyone’s day. Our walk to Daddy starts before we even get out the door by doing a quick cleanup of the living room and kitchen area about 40 minutes before Daddy normally arrives home. Once that is done Cameron goes in the stroller and down the driveway we go. One of the blessings of living in the country – not having to worry about to much traffic down our dirt road.
Generally Seth sets the pace, sometimes we walk the whole way, sometimes we run a little ways, the other day we ran almost all the way down the road. We stop and look at bees collecting pollen or the nasty squished snake. We look at airplanes and listen for birds and crickets. We talk about metamorphosis and hunting blinds. We feel the warmth of the sun and sit on the cool rocks in the shade. It is relaxing and rejuvenating. It is educational and enthusiastic. ” Mom!!! Let’s go find the snake again!”
We will walk up and down the road waiting for Daddy, and when he does come it is sooo exciting! It is one of Seth and Daddy’s favorite times, Daddy likes the happy, cheerful greeting and the semi clean house when he returns home and Seth likes the time outdoors with Momma and Cameron and he gets to “drive” (steer) the car back to the house. ๐
I’m not sure what is going to happen in the winter, since it will be getting dark so much earlier, but for right now I’m foreseeing bundled up boys and a sled. It will be my workout right?
What is your and your toddlers favorite time of day? Do you have any special quick pick up games that you play?

Oh my gosh, I want to come with you. My kiddos’ favorite time of day is when they get to wrestle around with dad, tickle fights, and singing songs with me. Every night we have family hug and that always ends up in a dog pile on the ground. So fun! I keep wanting to find a great place for us to take walks. When we lived in Portland we took a walk at least once a day and it was the best.

That sounds awesome!! We are really blessed with an abundance of places to walk and hike here, I wish we took advantage of more of the trails here. Maybe when the boys get older.

We have pretty interesting conversations, I need to start writing them in the boys’ baby books.

You definitely should. I think I would suggest getting a journal just for “Walk to Daddy” entries! ๐ What a great book that would be to read later on.

This sounds beautiful, you should seriously write a children’s book on it! The bundled up kiddos and a sled sounds great! ๐

I would have never even thought of writing a book on it…now there are all these thoughts running through my head… ๐ maybe someday.

I love the walk idea. We are currently working on a pick up routine. Uh hum. Doesn’t work out so well each day. Our favorite time of the day is also when Daddy comes home. The boys get so excited! The little things in life are the gems for sure. We also take family walks at night.

What a fun thing to do! Some of Brady and I’s best times have been walks. The things we see, the things we talk about are amazing.

He looks so cute in his jammies!
