20 Things to Do While Waiting for Your Coffee {or Tea}
The first days with littles can be overwhelming and make us feel like we are constantly in survival mode, but I have found that once a plan of action is put in place, it can make our days much more productive and help us to thrive as moms of littles.

After the birth of my fourth son, this transition period between unscheduled days, where we were sleeping as much as we could, and then catching up on things on the weekend, and more “productive” days seemed to take a lot longer than normal. Partly due to the fact that this was my fourth baby, the oldest two were being homeschooled, and the toddler was a mischief maker, and partly due to the fact that the fourth baby was simply a harder adjustment than I thought it would be.
Once I started taking small moments of time {your fringe minutes turn into fringe hours} and using them a little more wisely, things started to change. I felt more productive, like I had more control over my day, and my house started to be easier to clean. So here is a list of things that you can do while waiting for your coffee or tea.
Ways to Use Your Time Wisely While Waiting for Your Morning Tea
- Clear and wipe down the counters
- Vacuum a room
- Start a load of laundry
- Put away laundry
- Wipe down your stainless steel
- Wipe down the cabinet doors
- Sort through the mail
- Put dinner in the crockpot
- Clean out the fridge
- Sweep the floor
- Do a quick mopping job {just remember to mop yourself into the corner with the coffee pot 😉}
- Write out a Bible verse to meditate on
- Look over the day and ask Jesus to meet you in it
- Read a chapter in your latest book
- Text your husband a sweet/flirty/encouraging message
- Pray for your children
- Scrub the toilet
- Clean your kitchen windows
- Take the moment to cuddle with your littles
- Write a note of encouragement to a friend that you haven’t seen in a while
I think you get the point. By using these little moments that we usually would just sit and twiddle our thumbs in, we can get a lot of little things done. Those little things, done in the little moments, add up to big things.
It’s just like our whole mothering journey really. Those moments that we aren’t sure even count…changing the diapers for the 549, 361st time, wiping sticky hands and faces, washing another dish, folding more laundry, these little moments add up to big moments in our children’s lives. They add up to a feeling of love, stability, thankfulness, and showing littles what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
